It was our third and last day of sightseeing in Davao and we wanted to make the most out of it. Good thing that the cab driver was punctual and by 8am, we were already on our way to our first destination, EDEN NATURE PARK.
The ride was considerably long so we took advantage of this by napping. We were both still quite tired from all the sightseeing we’ve done the last two days. After an hour, we reached Eden. I was amazed at how huge it was! 80 hectares in fact! Altho we were only able to tour 40 hectares of it since the other half is still undeveloped and is partly being used as housing grounds for its many employees.
Eden Nature Park has the following activities and facilities: Fishing Village where one can catch his own fish and be able to bring it home; Swimming Pool that is situated at the highest point of the resort; 3-ON-3 Basketball Court and Pinoy Games where areas for “piko” and “patintero” are situated; Campsite and Camphuts where one can enjoy outdoor adventure by pitching tents and camping; Souvenir Shop that features native handicrafts and various knick-knacks; Trading Station where one can buy plants, seedlings, etc.; Vista Playground wjhere children love to play especially in the IndianaJones ride adjacent the Vista Restaurant where gastronomical experience awaits you; and the 4-km. Mountain Trail carved along towering trees, creeks and boulders.
Other points of interest in Eden are the Amphitheater & Flower Garden, Lola’s Garden, Deer Park, Vegetable Gardens and Greenhouses, Birdwalk, Fruit Tree Collection, Organic Vegetable and Herbs, Matinlo Pond, and Prayer Garden.
We were able to tour the whole place in two hours via their free shuttle service that is inclusive in the package of P250 each. Our last stop was the Fishing Village where we relaxed and enjoyed a scrumptious snack of Pancit Canton, Lumpiang Camote, Brownie, Bread and Coke.
Next on our itinerary was the Philippine Eagle Center. This one is located in the opposite side of town in Digos. And because it was quite far, we reached the place after one and a half hours. Inside, we saw numerous eagles of different sizes, the biggest of which is PAG-ASA.
Afterwards, we visited Malagos Garden Resort, Orchid Farm, and Butterfly Farm. It was such a tiring but relaxing trip at the same time, seeing all those butterflies and flowers around us.
We headed to Aldevinco shopping center late that afternoon to shop for other cool and native finds which I will post in another entry. Aldevinco is well-known for its affordable handicrafts. However, you would still have to ask around first to get the best buy and value for your money.
We capped off our last night with a hefty dinner of adobong manok, sinigang na baboy and vegetarian pizza (the best of its kind for only P80!). We can’t say if we’ll ever come back to Davao but while our trip lasted, we really had an awesome time!!!
