Dungaree Beach in Subic

Last March 6, 2010, Saturday, Ninette, Peter and I headed to Subic. We wanted to find a nice beach where we can just relax and enjoy the summer heat. We've already tried All Hands beach last February, so we went to the one near it, which is Dungaree Beach. Both beaches by the way are located just after the airport. When you reach the end of the road near the airport, instead of going to Zoobic on your left, you turn right. After a few minutes, you will see the beaches on your left.
FORMER BEACH OF THE U.S. MILITARY
Dungaree Beach was previously known as “Dog Beach” by the American Military who used to frequent it when Subic Bay was the largest U.S. naval base in the world. The water in this location is much cleaner than in the main Subic bay front area and much nicer to swim in. This isolated little beach is ideal for a day trip or combine it with one of our budget hotels such as the Majestic Hotel for a great overnight trip for those families or groups with minimal funds for an overnight outing.
WATER SPORTS ABOUND
Even though this beach is without its own equipment, arrangements can be made to bring-in jet skies, banana boats and parasailing from the All Hands Beach venue operator.

It's a nice little cove, with cottages for rent, priced at Php1,500 per day. As for us, we just wanted a much simpler and frugal mini vacation, so we opted for the monobloc tables and chairs, for only Php250.00. Anyway, we arrived at around 10:45 am due to heavy traffic in Edsa, and we stayed until around 5:30 p.m. Dungaree Beach by the way, closes at around 6pm. Entrance fee per person is Php150 and they have a kitchen where they can cook fresh seafood for you, or whatever dish you may like. It's very affordable too! We only spent Php475 for 3 grilled Tilapia, Pork Liempo, Fried Chicken, 3 rice, a bottle of Emperador Brandy, 2 Bananas, and 2 Mangoes. They also have a small store selling other junk food like chips, beer, and softdrinks.
GROUP BOOKINGS AND RENTING THE ENTIRE BEACH FOR A DAY
Looking for crystal-clear waters in a beach venue to throw your next corporate function, business seminar or teambuilding event? Perhaps you’d like your wedding reception by the sea. You can actually reserve the entire beach for the day for any number of possible uses by your group? You will feel like a celebrity for a day with exclusive ownership of a stretch of beach. Dungaree beach is the preferred venue for an outstanding, fun-and-sun get-together in Subic. This little stretch of beach is ideal for exclusive, private beach parties.

It's so much nicer here coz the seabed was not rocky as compared to All Hands Beach. That particular afternoon, the wind was blowing and everything was just so relaxing. There were only very few people, it felt like we owned the beach.

Our Coke moments ...^_^ We bought a bottle of brandy (coz it's the only alcohol available at that time...they had beer but I don't drink beer that much), so after lunch, it was me and my little Coke and brandy cocktail. Well, guess what? I may have concocted a very strong mixture. Coz after a little while, I started getting dizzy and I had to puke the entire contents of my lunch! Tsk, tsk, tsk. I'm getting old. I can no longer hold down my alcohol. Better luck next time! Or better yet, I should bring my own bottle of Vodka. Vodka is always nice with Coke, as well as rhum of course. ^_^

Is it really this nice here? CLEAN, white sand? Peaceful place?

Thanks!

Hi Camowam,

The place is peaceful when it's off peak. The sand is not that white but good enough for sunbathing. The water can be a nit itchy though. Must be the planktons.
