Malapascua Island Weekend in Cebu Day 3

On our third and final day on this exotic island, Peter and I woke up early to catch the sunrise. Malapascua island is just so beautiful that early morning, as the sun's rays cast its golden glow on the powdery white sands of the beach. Most of the boats were still docked by the shore while a few were out in the ocean, catching some fish, to supply the various resorts lining the island.

We stayed there for a little while, simply admiring the picturesque view of the blue sea and enjoying the calming effects of the gentle waves. Aaaahhhh... if only I could live like this everyday! Hopefully, when I retire, I'd be lying on a hammock, sipping my buko juice, enjoying my time lounging at a beach as beautiful and peaceful as this.

Watching those fishermen get their early catch made us both hungry. Since we were down to our last few pesos, we once again opted for the affordable and delicious breakfast served at Island Grill Bar and Restaurant located inside Daño Beach Resort. This resort, by the way, offers cheaper cottages with own toilet and bath and cozy beds. Per night is only around Php1000. We should've checked this out on our first day. Had I known, we could've stayed here instead of at Hippocampus Beach Resort which charged us Php1,450 per night. Oh well, next time! ^_^

At the Island Grill Bar and Restaurant located inside Daño Beach Resort,we had two orders of corned beef with rice and egg. My order has sunny side up while Peter wanted the scrambled eggs. ^_^ Both came with a cup of instant coffee too. Yummy!

We enjoyed the rest of the morning walking along the beach and looking at the other resorts in the area.

We passed by Exotic Island Dive Resort where most of the foreign tourists and scuba divers were staying. The place looked like fun, with a big restaurant in front serving international cuisine and plenty of hammocks to enjoy. Maybe next time, if we do decide to take up scuba diving, we could stay here.

Our check-out time was noon. By then, we were ready to leave and bid Malapscua goodbye. We rented 2 motorcycles (habal-habal in the vernacular) for Php20 each to bring us to the other side of the beach where boats going back to Maya Port were docked.

I was blown away by the site of this port. The beach looked fantastic! It was even better than where we were. Next time we visit Malapascua, we will go to this port to swim in its clear turquoise waters. Simply breathtaking!

Then finally, it was bye-bye time. We arrived in Cebu late that Sunday afternoon. My sister Abba and her gf Chris picked us up at the bus terminal in Cebu city, and dropped by their place. Considering how dusty the bus ride had been (only non-aircon buses were available at that time for our 4-hour ride back to the city), we were thankful for the opportunity to take a bath before taking our flight back to Manila that same evening. We were also able to spend time with them during dinner and coffee before heading to the airport. Malapascua, you will be missed. ^_^
