Look at the photo below. See those two islands from afar? This photo is taken right in front of Patrick's on the Beach located in General Luna, Siargao. The two islands there are Dako island on the right (the bigger one) and Guyam island on the left (the smaller one).
From Patrick's on the Beach, you can actually rent a kayak for Php500.00 and kayak your way over there especially if it's not as wavy. In fact, when the tide gets really low, you can walk all the way to Guyam Island. I wonder who has already done that. Sounds exciting! I'm sure by the time that person gets back, he'd be several pounds lighter. Hehehe.
Anyway, it was the last of the three islands (Dako, Guyam and Naked) we visited on our first day in Siargao. It's only 10 minutes away from the resort by boat but our boatmen made it the last of our stops. I guess it's easier that way.
It was almost sunset when we got there. (Don't mind me talking in the video. I know I suck. And don't mind the date on the photos too. I clicked something on our Agfaphoto recorder and the date changed. It's still supposed to be 6/30/2011).
Anyway, Guyam island pretty much looks like Potipot island for me. It's round, it's small, and they say it's uninhabited although we saw a house there (aside from the little huts) but no one was around except us.
It pretty much has this shipwrecked vibe, like if you get shipwrecked, it would be the perfect island to get stranded on...
For one, it's very near the main town of Siargao, hehe. Plus, with the numerous coconut trees, anyone can survive here for a couple of days.
So anyway, we only have an hour or less left and we made the most of it by going around the whole island. It's only 150 meters in diameter.
The beach at the other side is full of corals as compared to where we docked.
Guyam island seems perfect for snorkeling and swimming. They also say that when the waves come in, people can surf here too!
As for us, we just bummed in there and enjoyed the sunset. Do visit Guyam island when you go to Siargao. You won't regret it. ^_^
