Must-See Sights to Visit in Chicago

Chicago is the third largest city in the United States and home to a whole host of exciting things to see and do. Taste Michelin-starred food, witness beautiful architecture, shop until you drop and experience a breath-taking skyline, fascinating culture and miles and miles of beautiful, sandy beaches.

A Bird's Eye View

Look down on the colourful, bustling city from the sky deck of the Willis Tower, the 3rd tallest tower in the world (formerly known as Sears Tower). Travel up to the 103rd floor for the interactive exhibits or, if you're feeling brave, walk out onto The Ledge, a glass balcony situated 1,353 feet off the ground.

Culture Vultures

Alternatively, visit Grant Park for a wealth of amazing spectacles. This park boasts Millennium Park where there is a state-of-the-art collection of architecture including British artist Anish Kapoor's Cloud Gate sculpture, a series of highly polished steel plates that cleverly reflect Chicago's impressive skyline and the clouds above.

There is also a packed, free cultural programme at the park so why not catch an outdoor concert at the revolutionary Jay Pritzker Pavilion? You'll also find Buckingham Fountain nearby where each of the four seahorses represents each of the four states that border Lake Michigan.

Museum Campus is a 57 acre museum park sitting proudly in front of Lake Michigan and surrounding three of the city's most noteworthy museums, the Adler Planetarium and Astronomy Museum, the Shedd Aquarium and the Field Museum of Natural History, all significant in their own, individual way. The Adler is the oldest planetarium in history, the Shedd Aquarium receives over 2 million visitors a year and the Field Museum contains over 21 million specimens, including an impressive collection of dinosaur skeletons.

Roll Up, Roll Up

For family fun, Navy Pier spans over 50 acres and offers a variety of attractions including expansive shopping, thrilling rides and entertainment for all ages. Alternatively take one of the tours of Lake Michigan and choose an elegant dinner cruise where you can experience fine dining, live entertainment or just dance the night away. In contrast, opt for the adrenaline rush of skimming the water at full throttle on one of the super-fast speedboats docked along this lakefront playground.

Retail Therapy

On Michigan Avenue you'll find Water Tower Place, at the pinnacle of the world famous Magnificent Mile and Chicago's premier shopping district. Here you'll discover an eight level atrium of over 100 stores including well-known retailers sitting side-by-side with exclusive boutiques and specialty shops. Here you will also find Foodlife, offering a dining experience that spans from Michelin-starred restaurants to cuisine from all around the world such as Greek, Indian, Thai, to name but a few.

A Sporting Chance
Football fans can catch the Chicago Bears playing at Soldier Field based at Grant Park. If you're more of a baseball fanatic, take in a Chicago Cubs game at Wrigley Field or the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. Fans of basketball can catch a Chicago Bulls game at the United Center which is also where the Chicago Blackhawks ice hockey team plays.

Whatever your age and whatever your interests, you'll find something to love in the wonderful, vibrant city of Chicago.
