Harold's Mansion and Grand Pension Plaza Hotel in Dumaguete City

My trip to Dumaguete always involves proper budgeting since there are so many things to do there and so many food places to try that if I'm not careful with my money, I could lose track of my expenditures and end up with a huge hole in my pocket. So one of the first things I look for when going to Dumaguete is a budget-friendly place to stay, a cheap hotel or an affordable hostel or pension house. I found some while doing my research (although what happens lately is that I just ask the people at the airport of my destination where to stay. Tricycle drivers are excellent sources of information) and so far, I have stayed in two of them: Harold's Mansion (in 2010) and Grand Pension Plaza Hotel (last March 3-9, 2013).

By the way, I took a tricycle to my hotel from the airport and it cost me Php100.00. But if you get a tricycle from the city going to the airport, it would only cost Php80.00. The ride is just 15 minutes one way with moderate traffic.

Harold's Mansion

The first time I went to Dumaguete, I was with my husband, Peter. That was in 2010 and we stayed at Harold's Mansion. We rented a Double room with AC, cable TV, hot and cold shower, wi-fi in the room and it only cost us Php600.00/night. But now, they already increased their price to Php800/night to remain competitive in the booming tourist market of Dumaguete City.

No to Saltimboca Tourist Inn Bacolod City - Don't be fooled by the nice pictures

arriving at the New Bacolod Silay Airport

It was a month ago when we went to Bacolod. I'm not really into crowds so I made sure that we go there at least a month before the very noisy and crowded Masskara Festival (which is actually this weekend!). My friends Koryn and Joan were inviting me to go in October but big celebrations are just no longer my kind of fun. I guess it ended on that trip we had for the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio back in 2007. I may have developed agoraphobia since then coz big, noisy crowds tend to scare me now. That and the many pickpockets, disease you could pick up along the way, etc. LOL!

Bonueva Home Boracay Cheap Rooms

This is my room here at Bonueva Home. It's small but it has everything I need. Very affordable too!

It was November 2010 when I booked my flights for Boracay. We just came from our 1-week stay in Dumaguete (which I should also blog about soon!) and I thought, why not finally do this one month island vacation thing I've been planning to do for so long? So I booked my flights and then I started searching for a cheap place to stay. That's when I saw BONUEVA HOME in my search.

Eden Nature Park in Davao

For those who want to read this travelogue from the start, please click the following link:
 ~~~oOo~~~
It was our third and last day of sightseeing in Davao and we wanted to make the most out of it. Good thing that the cab driver was punctual and by 8am, we were already on our way to our first destination, EDEN NATURE PARK.
The ride was considerably long so we took advantage of this by napping. We were both still quite tired from all the sightseeing we’ve done the last two days. After an hour, we reached Eden. I was amazed at how huge it was! 80 hectares in fact! Altho we were only able to tour 40 hectares of it since the other half is still undeveloped and is partly being used as housing grounds for its many employees.
Eden Nature Park has the following activities and facilities: Fishing Village where one can catch his own fish and be able to bring it home; Swimming Pool that is situated at the highest point of the resort; 3-ON-3 Basketball Court and Pinoy Games where areas for “piko” and “patintero” are situated; Campsite and Camphuts where one can enjoy outdoor adventure by pitching tents and camping; Souvenir Shop that features native handicrafts and various knick-knacks; Trading Station where one can buy plants, seedlings, etc.; Vista Playground wjhere children love to play especially in the IndianaJones ride adjacent the Vista Restaurant where gastronomical experience awaits you; and the 4-km. Mountain Trail carved along towering trees, creeks and boulders.
