Palace Declares June 30 a Special Non-working Holiday
I got this news from abs-cbnNEWS.com and I just want to share it here:
MANILA, Philippines – President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo has declared President-elect Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III's inauguration on June 30 (Wednesday) a special non-working holiday, a MalacaƱang official announced Thursday.Presidential Management Staff chief Elena Bautista-Horn said presidential spokesperson Ricardo Saludo will issue a statement about the holiday declaration.
The inauguration of Aquino, the 15th Philippine president, at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park (formerly Luneta) in Manila is expected to be simple, but star-studded.

Potipot Island in Zambales : Our Last Day
Early the next morning, we woke up a few minutes before sunrise. It was cold and breezy, so I got our C-2 mini-tent and sat there while we waited for the sun to take a peek by the mountains...
It was such a beautiful sunny morning.We noticed that some people were already frolicking in the cool waters. As for us, we couldn't wait to explore Potipot Island some more like we promised ourselves the previous day. And so, our journey began...

Car Check Before Traveling

It's been a long time since Peter and I last went to La Union to brave the surf. I miss the beach, I miss the waters, I miss the thrill of surfing. It’s just that whenever we go there, we have to use the bigger car so we can also bring our surfboard with us. The smaller car should be great because with it, we can save a lot of gas. The only downside is that the surfboard won't be able to fit in there.
Now, the thing about our older car is that it may already need some fixing. It's already due for registration, but before we do that, it may need some water pump replacement to make sure that it does not overheat during the long drive, especially under this grueling summer heat; the timing belt might have to be checked to make sure that the components of the internal engine are in sync; the tires need to be pumped; plus it really needs a good car wash with waxing.
If this is Texas and Phoenix auto repair shops are almost everywhere, it would be easy. But from where we live, and due to our very hectic schedules, we should really stop working first and find the time to find a good car shop to get these matters in order so we can once again enjoy riding our old car, and be able to bring it with us whenever we go surfing.
For things to do when visiting La Union, here's an awesome list of La Union Things to Do.

Potipot Island Camping Adventure
POTIPOT ISLAND
~~~oOo~~~
Finally, at past 3 in the afternoon on April 11, we arrived at Potipot island. We were both surprised by the number of people camping and swimming in the area. We didn't expect this and it made us both feel a bit down. It was only later in the aftenoon that we found out about Potipot Island having recently been featured on TV, no wonder people were so gung ho to explore it.
Sexynomad.Blogspot is Born
Howdy! I just celebrated my 4th birthday at my previous sexynomad blog when I suddenly decided to make a new home here at blogspot.com. It was a toss between totally stopping all my blogging activities or finding a new home. I know I'd regret deleting all my blogs so I chose the latter instead.After I "snorkeled" my way (see my goodbye post) from i.ph island to blogspot mountain, I am finally here.
How to Get to Potipot Island in Zambales
The weekend after Holy Week, April 10-11, 2010, Peter and I explored an amazing island in Uacon, Candelaria, Zambales. It's called Potipot Island. The island has fine, white sand, with turquoise blue waters. It's so perfect for a romantic getaway and so ideal for camping. I don't have the time right now to divulge all the details about this wonderful island (coz it usually takes me 4 hours to create 1 travel blog post, hours that I can't afford to spend on blogging at the moment) so here's showing you one of my favorite shots. Watch out for my upcoming blog post about Potipot Island. Coming soon!
Islands of Dampalitan, Malaking Talabaan and Maliit na Talabaan in Padre Burgos, Quezon
~~~oOo~~~
I woke up the following morning, which was a Black Saturday, at around 4:00 am. The beach was dark except for the moonlit and starlit sky. I can still see the outline of the gorgeous mountain ranges from afar. I stayed inside the tent hoping that Peter will wake up as well... to no avail. So I tried going back to sleep. At 5:00 a.m., I really wasn't feeling sleepy anymore so I nudged Peter beside me to wake him up. I needed to pee. I didn't want to go all the way to the public restroom area and pass by the tents of all the other sleeping campers, so I asked Peter to accompany me to a nearby bush instead where I can do number 1. Teehee. By the time we went back to our tent, I saw some fishermen docking their boats and going to our area. Apparently, they were trying to sell us some newly caught Tilapya fish and crabs. I wasn't really in the mood to buy coz one, we didn't bring any grill where we can cook it; two, we didn't know how to make fire; and three, I don't wanna be too full that it will make me do number 2. I try to avoid doing that whenever we camp. I'd rather stay on a strict diet so my tummy can wait all the way back home or somewhere more civilized where I can relieve myself. But anyway, the fishermen were really very insistent. They even volunteered to borrow the grill of our neighbor campers (who were still sleeping) without their knowledge and also made fire for us with the use of coconut husks. I felt pity for them so we ended up buying Php 120.00 worth of fresh Tilapya. Not bad. It did taste so yummy and I finished one huge piece.
The rest of our early morning was spent walking by the beach, still dressed in my makeshift PJs, waiting for the sun to shine.The tide was low and the beach seemed wider that early morning.

After our island hopping experience, we headed to Dampalitan Beach just before lunch time. This was where we camped the rest of the day until the next morning. On our way there, we passed by 3 nice private beaches called Bacongan which is also the name of the town where these beaches are located...

After our short stay at Borawan Island, our next stop was at Puting Buhangin Beach. On our way there, the boatman showed us Mag-asawang Bato, a stretch of rocky island that was divided in two, perhaps, by the tide and passing of time. The water surrounding it was full of corals so we didn't stop over anymore. We just admired this magnificent formation of islets from a distance.

After waiting for about a hour, the boatmen finally arrived. I told them about the arrangement I made with Kuya Vic. We wanted to visit all possible islands in the area for the price of Php1,500 (Borawan, Puting Buhangin, Maliit at Malaking Talabaan, Kwebang Lampas, Mag-asawang Bato and Dampalitan Beach where we will camp for the night). They obliged and a few minutes past 7 in the morning, we were on our way to our first destination which was BORAWAN island.

Last Holy Thursday, Peter and I spent the day cleaning up the house after the carpenters left, arranging the extra white rocks at the balcony, having the cars cleaned, doing some last minute grocery shopping for our camping trip, and sleeping from 6pm to 12 midnight. And by 1:30 am on a Good Friday, we were already on the road to Padre Burgos in Quezon, where a lot of white beaches abound.
