Singapore: Suntec City and The Fountain of Wealth

As soon as we arrived at the Changi airport, we checked in our luggage at a temporary storage area for only a few Singapore dollars. After all, we had another flight to catch going to Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam later that dawn and it would be such a waste of funds and time if we still look for a place to crash for the day. So, we opted to go on a free tour of the city itself. We took the sanstour bus ride to the city c/o Uniquely Singapore. Passing by the highway roads of Singapore felt very familiar and homey. I didn't anymore get awed by the cleanliness and beauty of the surroundings, which was a good thing, coz it means I was comfortable, considering that we were backpacking our way for the entire duration of this Asian trip.

The bus ride to the city was about 25 minutes from Changi airport, so we just sat back and relaxed and let our tour guide do all the talking.

We passed by the Singapore Flyer which looked so colorful and huge even from afar.

Singapore Arrival - Asian Tour 2010

The next series of travelogues will mostly contain videos and photos to commemorate how I started this year (2010) with one of my best girlfriends, Jem. Christmas '09 was just over and the new year was looming in the horizon. Out of the blue, Jem visited me at home in Alabang, and psyched me to go on an 8-day Asian tour with her from Singapore to Ho Chi Minh to Singapore to Kuala Lumpur and back to Singapore again. Suffice it to say that my first 8 days this year (January 1-8) was spent with one of my best friends, exploring new places, as we also looked within our souls and discerned our renewed spirits.

For easy organization, let me link all subsequent posts about this trip under the heading:

2010 Asian Trip

~~~oOo~~~
I was prepared to sashay the streets of Singapore in style...
First order of business: Where to board the free shuttle that goes to the city and where to have our Philippine peso and US dollars changed.
Visiting the Uniquely Singapore booth inside Changi airport gave us a lot of ideas about places to visit. Though this is my third time to visit Singapore, there are still many nooks and crannies I have yet to discover.
The Wizarding World of Harry Potter Opens June 18
OMG! OMG! OMG!!!
If only I have my visa and enough money, I will go to Orlando, Florida A.S.A.P. !!!
Any willing sponsors out there????
I am a die hard fan of Harry Potter and everything magical! I may not be a geek who memorized all those characters and plots and twists and turns all throughout these years, but every time I am sad or depressed, I watch all the Harry Potter movies in one sitting! If that's not enough, I also listen to the soundtrack until I fall asleep! Then the next day, all my troubles no longer matter.
Anyhoo, suffice it to say that I've watched Harry grow up from when he was but a young boy, up to when he became a man. I've always wondered what it would be like to live like a true blooded witch and have all those surreal, magical and deadly powers!
Lucky for those who can get to Florida. Because come June 18, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando will open its gates for everyone to enjoy! See this video here:
Sunrise at Potipot Island
Early the next morning, we woke up a few minutes before sunrise. It was cold and breezy, so I got our C-2 mini-tent and sat there while we waited for the sun to take a peek by the mountains...
It was such a beautiful sunny morning.We noticed that some people were already frolicking in the cool waters. As for us, we couldn't wait to explore Potipot Island some more like we promised ourselves the previous day. And so, our
journey began...
Car Check Before Traveling
It's been a long time since Peter and I last went to La Union to brave the surf. I miss the beach, I miss the waters, I miss the thrill of surfing. It’s just that whenever we go there, we have to use the bigger car so we can also bring our surfboard with us. The smaller car should be great because with it, we can save a lot of gas. The only downside is that the surfboard won't be able to fit in there.
Now, the thing about our older car is that it may already need some fixing. It's already due for registration, but before we do that, it may need some water pump replacement to make sure that it does not overheat during the long drive, especially under this grueling summer heat; the timing belt might have to be checked to make sure that the components of the internal engine are in sync; the tires need to be pumped; plus it really needs a good car wash with waxing.
If this is Texas and Phoenix auto repair shops are almost everywhere, it would be easy. But from where we live, and due to our very hectic schedules, we should really stop working first and find the time to find a good car shop to get these matters in order so we can once again enjoy riding our old car, and be able to bring it with us whenever we go surfing.
For things to do when visiting La Union, here's an awesome list of La Union Things to Do.
Lee DeWyze Wonderfully Sings "Hallelujah" American Idol Season 9 Top 3 5/18/10
I find myself listening to Lee Dewyze's rendition of Hallelujah in American Idol on May 18 as I go about doing my work. He has such an amazing and powerful voice, not to mention the charm which will most probably make him sell a lot of records in the future! The crowd loves him so much and so do I! Rock on Lee DeWyze!!!
Potipot Island Camping Adventure
This travelogue is a continuation of my previous Potipot blog post. For all posts about the island, please click the link below:
Finally, at past 3 in the afternoon on April 11, we arrived at Potipot island. We were both surprised by the number of people camping and swimming in the area. We didn't expect this and it made us both feel a bit down. It was only later in the aftenoon that we found out about Potipot Island having recently been featured on TV, no wonder people were so gung ho to explore it.
We surveyed the beach for a little while hoping to find a nice place to set up our tent. Unfortunately, there was no better spot than the first one we saw, which was between a big group of friends lounging under the tree on our right, and another huge group of friends camping on our left. So that's that. As cramped as it felt, I didn't allow it to ruin our weekend together.
Camp Rock 2 Official Trailer
I was literally having goosebumps as I watched the official trailer of Camp Rock 2. I can't wait!
Like what Demi Lovato said, it's bigger and it's better! Everybody is pumped at the highest level of both singing and acting. I just love their voices (they give me the chills up and down my spine every time I listen to their songs) and the lyrics are just so meaningful and always relevant. My 16-year old soul may have been trapped in a 32-year old body, but whatever the case is, of all the aspirational teen flicks I've seen in my whole life, Disney's Camp Rock installations are the ones that make me wanna go back in time and change my destiny.
Jonas Brothers, Demi Lovato and all the cast and crew of Camp Rock 2, YOU ROCK!
Enjoy the video of Camp Rock 2's trailer:
Kids Dancing To Single Ladies
These pretty little kids, around 8 years of age, danced to the beat of Single Ladies and their video has gone viral with over 2 million viewers! It's just been featured at The Insider NYC and people have been debating whether the video is too racy or not.
Honestly, the first time I saw this fantastic vid, my jaw dropped! I had to squint several times to make sure if it's kids that I'm seeing doing those sexy, provocative moves. And I was right. They're just kids! Beautiful, talented, amazingly gifted kids! I'd be a proud momma if I had a kid like that! (see video below)
No...it's nothing like this photo on top! I'd probably die first before I ever get close to one as huge as this (see my video below)! @_@
Then and Now Massive Music Festival 2010 - Sharing My Experience
To my surprise, I ended up with 6 more free silver tickets that night c/o Jayvee. We met with him at Don Henrico's together with his beautiful girlfriend and their friends. I immediately texted, plurked and facebooked about the free tickets but only two were able to avail of them.
Anyhoo, just like in any other big events, there were some minor inconveniences that could have been avoided, and could've made the whole experience seem massive indeed... inconveniences like having a faulty microphone, no regular hosts entertaining the crowd in between sets, and the monitor not working properly (even Jojo, while performing, asked to have her monitor turned up).
Anyway, overall, I had fun. Even if I was napping in between sets while seated on Peter, who was seated on the ground, I loved almost all the songs they played for us. They're the songs I perpetually play on my ipod and at home! Yeah, I am an 80's girl but I'm also stuck in the 90's. Ask me what I love about music today and all I know is that of Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato. Okay, that one song of Miley Cyrus too. ^_^
Back to the Then & Now Concert... Peter and I had particular favorites though ---
Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato On Camp Rock 2
Nickelodeon's 23rd Annual Kids' Choice Awards - Arrivals
I'm a total fan of Camp Rock! Their hit single "THIS IS ME" is one of the two songs (Alone by Heart being the other one) I keep playing on my guitar. I have an original copy of their DVD and CD which I've kept somewhere safe and I can't wait to watch the second and final installment this coming June! See the interview about it below...
Zac Efron On Charlie St. Cloud
82nd Annual Academy Awards - Governors Ball
Zac Efron, one of my ultimate crushes of all time, grows even more and more handsome every time I see him on screen. My 22-year old celebrity crush stars as a young man in his new movie, Charlie St. Cloud, (official trailer below) showing this July 30, who suddenly gains extrasensory powers after he survives a tragic accident.
Then & Now Massive Music Festival 2010
Yes, Peter and I are going to watch the Then & Now Massive Music Festival 2010 tonight at MOA concert grounds because Jayvee was kind enough to offer us some free tickets. ^_^
Why is the sky blue?
I took this shot during our Caramoan trip last April
There's a new study that says the color of the sky, which is typically blue, has something to do with certain minerals like phosphorus, some ancient algae, and rocks. How did that happen?
Sexynomad.Blogspot is Born
Howdy! I just celebrated my 4th birthday at my previous sexynomad blog when I suddenly decided to make a new home here at blogspot.com. It was a toss between totally stopping all my blogging activities or finding a new home. I know I'd regret deleting all my blogs so I chose the latter instead.
After I "snorkeled" my way (see my goodbye post) from i.ph island to blogspot mountain, I am finally here.
Hammocks at Home
I had a feeling that summer would be over soon because of the intermittent rain showers. Too bad, I thought. To think Peter and I bought two hammocks during one of our island getaways hoping that we still could bring them out of town and have them set up between coconut trees for our future camping trips.
How to Get to Potipot Island in Zambales
The weekend after Holy Week, April 10-11, 2010, Peter and I explored an amazing island in Uacon, Candelaria, Zambales. It's called Potipot Island. The island has fine, white sand, with turquoise blue waters. It's so perfect for a romantic getaway and so ideal for camping. I don't have the time right now to divulge all the details about this wonderful island (coz it usually takes me 4 hours to create 1 travel blog post, hours that I can't afford to spend on blogging at the moment) so here's showing you one of my favorite shots. Watch out for my upcoming blog post about Potipot Island. Coming soon!
